Foundations and Grants Committee

The Foundations and Grants Committee Identifies District Scholarship and Grant initiatives which align with the mission of the Rotary Club of Houston. Acts as a liaison with Rotary District 5890 on related issues. The committee also contacts local and national organizations to support the community service work of the Rotary Club of Houston.

The nature of Rotary today suggests that every club is expected to engage in a project in one or more of the six Avenues of Service. Since these projects almost certainly require funds, every club must seek for the means of raising those funds. The Rotary Club of Houston regards the Foundation and Grants Committee as but one element in our clubs multi-faceted programs, and generally maintains a balanced stance in our giving for the world community and for the community at home. Club morale, club understanding of the Object of Rotary, club effectiveness in earning a place for itself in our community are all attainments for which the Rotary Club of Houston takes full responsibility and credit.

Our Rotary Foundation and Grants Committee is an array of diverse members and highly individualistic individuals whose greatest desire is to practice Rotary giving as they see it. The Rotary Club of Houston, and every Rotary member in it, sees this committee, not as administrator or judge of beneficial quality, but as a helper, a supplier of ideas and, when necessary, a coordinator of activity. The Foundation and Grants Committee is bound together by their common loyalty and understanding of the Object of Rotary and by their common belief in the validity of Rotary’s motto, ‘’Service Above Self” which plays out every day in the vast considerations of the Foundation and Grants Committee
